The lone reactor that was still operating at Europe’s largest nuclear plant was shut down because of the threat to its water supply. The reactor had been helping supply energy to the plant itself.
A local prosecutor said it was “premature” to determine the motive of the suspect, who was charged with attempted murder. The six victims, including four children, were no longer in critical condition.
The four siblings had been missing after a plane they were traveling in crashed in the Colombian rainforest in May. Rescuers first found the bodies of the three adults who died in the crash, and then launched a search for the children.
