*Danielle Dominique and Danielle Solomon have achieved a groundbreaking milestone with their show “Mind Your Business” on Bounce. Garnering over 2 million views during its debut weekend, the series has become the most-watched Bounce original show to date.
Despite the current industry trend favoring reboots and sequels, and with minimal paid promotion, “Mind Your Business” has captivated millions and continues to attract new fans weekly.
“Despite not having a major promotional roll-out compared to past Bounce originals, ‘Mind Your Business’ still reached millions of people and continues to gain new fans every week. Its success underscores the audience’s desire for fresh, original ideas in a landscape dominated by reboots and sequels,” said Danielle Solomon.
Solomon, who created the show at 27 and saw its premiere at 28, notes the significance of this achievement.
“This is very uncommon in a post-strike industry, especially for Black women. Myself and Yvette Lee Bowser (Living Single) are the only two Black women to earn the coveted ‘created by credit’ for a broadcast network show at such a young age. Hopefully, ‘Mind Your Business’ will open the doors again for more younger women to do the same and we don’t have to wait another 30+ years,” Solomon added.
“Mind Your Business” explores the dynamic world of entrepreneurship through the lens of diverse and innovative business owners.
The show has resonated with audiences by combining compelling storytelling with insightful business advice and showcasing the resilience and creativity of entrepreneurs across various industries.
“For me, creating the show ‘Mind Your Business’ was like capturing the heartbeat of my family on screen. From the family business to Henry being a musician, to Aunt Lucille’s strong dominance as the matriarch of the family. Every dynamic, every personality, every real-life story woven into the show is a testament to the rich tapestry of my family and the neighborhood where I grew up,” says Danielle Dominique.
“BeBe Winans’ character, Henry, is an uncannily accurate reflection of my father – a restless spirit, an artistic genius, a charmer who effortlessly attracts the ladies, and above all, a man who cherishes his family. Aunt Lucille is an homage to my grandmother and her sisters – she’s loving, fiercely family-oriented, a staunch advocate for Black history, a nurturing soul, a master chef, a straight shooter, and a woman who would move mountains for her family. Every character in ‘Mind Your Business’ is a loving tribute to someone dear to me which makes this show resonate deeply within my heart.”
The success of “Mind Your Business” underscores Bounce’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging content that resonates with a broad audience.
As the series continues to captivate viewers, Dominique and Solomon look forward to inspiring even more aspiring entrepreneurs and celebrating the spirit of innovation and determination.
“Our goal was simple: create a show that feels like home. ‘Mind Your Business’ is more than just a sitcom; it’s a celebration of family, culture, and the timeless values that bind us all. The essence of ‘Mind Your Business’ lies in its ability to bridge generations and bring families together. By creating authentic, relatable stories, we hope to evoke nostalgia that resonates with a multitude of viewers. I tried to craft each episode with care, capturing the humor, love, and challenges of a close-knit family navigating their business and personal lives,” added Danielle Dominique.
