*A man who filed a lawsuit against rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, accusing him of sexual assault, has been awarded $100 million by default after the Bad Boy Records founder did not respond to the case.
Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, 51, who is currently serving a prison sentence for unrelated convictions of sexual misconduct and kidnapping, alleged that Combs drugged and sexually assaulted him during a party in Detroit, Michigan, in 1997, the BBC reports.
Combs’ legal team has denied the accusations and intends to challenge the ruling. They claim Combs was not properly notified of the lawsuit and was therefore unaware of its existence. They plan to seek the reversal of the judgment.
Judge Anna Marie Anzalone of the Lenawee County Circuit Court issued the default judgment against Diddy after he failed to appear for a September 9 hearing over the lawsuit.
Cardello-Smith claimed in court that Combs had recently offered him $2.3 million to settle the lawsuit, which he declined. He also presented documents showing the music mogul’s name in a prison visitation log.
Meanwhile, Combs is selling his Beverly Hills mansion for $61 million, according to Page Six. This is the same home that was raided in March by Homeland Security “as part of an ongoing investigation” into sex trafficking. Diddy purchased the two-story mega-mansion 10 years ago for $40 million.
Here’s more from Page Six:
According to a description, “A grand cobblestone driveway leads to the completely remodeled estate, which features classic European design elements. The property boasts a luxurious paneled entry foyer with a sweeping staircase bathed in natural light, along with a large living room, formal dining room, wine cellar, office, and a gourmet kitchen with a family room and separate catering kitchen.”
There’s also a “state-of-the-art theater that seats 35 guests,” plus “a two-story guest house” with, “a large gym, recording studio and additional guest bedrooms.”
Outdoors, there are “expansive lawns, mature trees, and formal gardens,” plus a “resort-like swimming pool with a waterfall and grotto, a basketball court, spa house, and an outdoor loggia equipped with a BBQ, bar and pizza oven.”
A source said, “Combs established his primary residence on Star Island in Miami years ago. Now that his children are grown… the empty nester has decided to sell the property, marking a significant moment in LA real estate.”
