*The 2025 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD is doing all the right things, almost. From the look and feel to the drive and creature comforts, it gets high marks from me.
The Look: Staying true to its strong yet elegant exterior, the 2025 Genesis GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD is another impressive luxury SUV under the brand. Special care is taken with the interior design which includes a more balanced crosshatch stitching for the styling, refined soft touches throughout, and contrasting colors and materials to add dynamism.
I found the interior’s varying patterns and materials a nice touch, making the vehicle feel as if it was designed for comfort, like one would think about their own living space or wardrobe, adding bold elements that work well with one another. I also enjoyed the ambient lighting throughout the cabin, as it was subtle and well-placed.
The double sunroof is an element I’m glad to report remains from the previous model. Opening from the center, the sunroof gives passengers and drivers an open sky view, bringing in loads of light for those long drives on beautiful days.
Comfort and Convenience: Without a doubt, the vehicle feels good! I love the soft touches around the cabin, and the easy buttons to make quick adjustments. One of my favorite (new) elements is the armrest warmer. With the seat warmer turned on, the central armrest is warmed as well. Check out the video!
Technology & Drive: I don’t think I’ll stop saying it until it changes: Apple CarPlay doesn’t work wirelessly. Besides my long-lasting gripe (and slight protest), I loved the new design and placement of the navigation screen. The screen replaces the 2024 model’s separate speedometer dash display and now seamlessly flows into the infotainment space. This was the first thing I noticed when sitting in the driver’s seat. It was certainly a show-stopping element and inspired some excitement to drive. The split screen makes it easy for the driver to toggle between media and navigation while never viewing too far from the essentials in the drive. The climate control buttons are also completely replaced in the 2025 GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD with a touch screen experience, a slightly more convenient way to adjust.
The drive was smooth. Handling New York streets was a piece of cake, though going over big potholes and hardly maintained roads was noticeable. Speaking of driving, one of the most difficult and unpleasant aspects of the drive was safety control. It happened on more than one occasion when the vehicle responded to crossing traffic and stopped the car in the middle of my drive.
The first time it happened, I was making a left turn as an oncoming vehicle crossed and cleared my path. It was at this moment I began to accelerate that the vehicle activated its emergency braking system, leaving me unable to move the car forward in the middle of traffic. I had to wait until the vehicle released this brake to continue my movement forward. Even after adjusting this setting, the sensitivity didn’t seem to change and it happened again.
Overall, the 2025 GV80 3.5T Prestige AWD is a solid drive, with a great look and feel. I love the drive, but not a big fan of the safety systems.
