*Beyoncé opens up about her private life and new whiskey brand SirDavis in the October issue of GQ Magazine.
“I love everything about whiskey. The color, the smell, the way it dances in the glass… And I love the stories that come with it. Every bottle has a history. I also like introducing whiskey to people who don’t know they love it yet,” she told the publication.
We reported earlier Bey launched SirDavis in partnership with Moët Hennessy, part of the French luxury giant LVMH.
In a press release, the brand describes SirDavis as a unique take on whisky with its “bespoke recipe,” unconventional maturation process, and distinctive flavor profile inspired by Japanese and Scottish traditions, AfroTech reports.
“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” said Beyoncé, per the press release.
“When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy,” she added.
“In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whisky that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis,” said Bey.
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer told GQ that despite being a busy superstar artist and entrepreneur, she strives to maintain a sense of normalcy for her family.
“One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is making sure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible, ensuring my personal life isn’t turned into a brand. It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art. I have made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace,” she said.
“I only work on what liberates me. It is fame that can at times feel like prison. So, when you don’t see me on red carpets, and when I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why,” Bey explained.
“I am a musician first. It has always been my priority. I didn’t get into anything that could take away from my artistry until I felt I was solidified as a master at my first love, music,” the superstar singer continued.
“I don’t waste my time on something unless I’m deeply passionate about it. If I don’t wake up thinking about it and I’m not going to sleep dreaming about it, it’s not for me.”
